Thought for this Week:
Brennan Manning writes in his book The Signature of Jesus, “There is a frightening preoccupation with trivia in the church today… but, Jesus demands nothing less than the placing of our own ego’s and desires on the Cross. William Penn said, ‘To be like Christ is to be a Christian’. Today, many churches (and their members) attempt to eliminate the risk and danger of this call. We cushion the risk and remove the danger of discipleship by drawing up a list of moral rules that give us security instead of holy insecurity. The word of the cross, the power and wisdom of Jesus Christ crucified, is conspicuous by its absence.’
Verse for this Week:
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved by it, it is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1:18
