Thought for this Week:
Walking with God leads to receiving his intimate counsel, writes John Eldridge, in his book Waking the Dead, and counseling leads to deep restoration. As we learn to walk with God and hear his voice, he is able to bring up issues in our hearts that need speaking to. How we act, how we relate to others, sometimes wounds that have broken our hearts affect the way we walk, and so we need his healing as well.
We only let people into our lives when we know them well, we form deep and intimate relationships with those we love and care for and we allow them to speak into our lives. The psalmist talks about being led into a quiet place, to restore the soul.
Is God raising some issues in your heart right now? Is God showing you things, events and relationships that need to be adjusted? Is your relationship with God so intimate that you hear him speak and challenge you on your life choices. Are you willing to listen? We need time in the presence of God, removed from distractions and able to hear him clearly.
Verse for this Week:
Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart that I might fear your name. Psalm 86:11
